Can I do this trail solo?

Yes, but inform someone of your itinerary and expected return time. Solo hiking is common here, but self-rescue is expected. Carry a satellite communicator or PLB if possible.

Do I need a rope or climbing gear?

No. It's a scramble, not a technical climb. Trekking poles and good boots are enough. Hands-on scrambling is required, but no rope-protected pitches.

Is there cell service?

No. Tell someone your plan before you go. There is no way to call for help once on trail.

What if I turn back halfway?

Totally acceptable and encouraged. Discretion is the mark of a good hiker. Turnaround time is roughly 2pm to finish before dark.

How crowded is it really?

Rarely crowded. You may see 2–5 hikers on a busy summer day. Most go to Jenny Lake instead. Solitude is a major perk.

Exposure and loose rock create real hazards. Falls are fatal. Go only if you're comfortable with that risk and have scrambling experience.
