Hiked Bear’s Hump Trail in Waterton on May 26, 2024 and the view is absolutely unreal. It’s a short hike but delivers a massive payoff at the top — crystal-clear lake, mountains in every direction, and a postcard-perfect town below. The drive from Calgary to Waterton alone is worth it. Scenic the entire way and gets better the closer you get. If you’re into nature, photography, or just want a spot that actually lives up to the hype, this is it.Go early or near sunset if you want fewer people and better light. Comfortable shoes are enough — it’s steep in parts but totally manageable. No excuses. If you’re anywhere near Alberta, this trail should be on your list.

Bear’s Hump is one of our favorite hikes in Waterton — we’ve done it so many times and it never disappoints! The trail is short but steep, about 2.8 km round trip with an elevation gain of roughly 240 m, and usually takes about 1–1.5 hours. The views from the top are absolutely stunning, overlooking Waterton townsite, Upper Waterton Lake, and the surrounding mountains. It feels worth every step, and somehow the scenery gets better each time. A must-do hike for anyone visiting Waterton!

Quite a difficult hike with lots of elevation mainly stairs on the way up. Various benches on the way where you can take a break and enjoy the view. The view at the top is worth it and absolutely stunning view of all of Waterton.
