The Northwest Montana History Museum occupies the historic Central School building at 124 Second Avenue East in downtown Kalispell. Exhibits cover the Flathead Valley from its first inhabitants roughly 10,000 years ago through Demersville, the lumber era and Kalispell's growth, and one gallery, The Land of Many Stories, covers the 1910 founding of Glacier National Park. Its School Bell Books & Gifts shop stocks regional history titles, historic maps and photographs, Montana-made goods and children's books. Open weekdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., it is a rest-day stop in Kalispell, about 33 miles from the West Entrance.
