You Are Here: Poetry in Parks at Everglades
A weathered picnic table in the Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center parking lot displays June Jordan's poem 'Ecology'—selected by 24th U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón as part of her 'You Are Here: Poetry in Parks' installation project. The poem captures a moment of ecological tension: a nesting marsh hawk startled by a returning human, exploring the relationship between species. This art installation is one of seven 'You Are Here' tables across national parks, each inviting visitors to reflect on language and landscape. Visitors are encouraged to share their own nature-inspired reflections using #YouAreHerePoetry.

- Located in the parking lot of Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center at Everglades National Park. From the main park entrance on FL-9336 (approximately 38 miles south of Florida City), follow signs to the visitor center. The picnic table is positioned in the parking lot near the visitor center building.
