Overview

About This Attraction

Dark granite walls press in from the rim, forming a shadow-filled abyss. The Gunnison River runs far below, carving a 2,722-foot vertical relief into ancient metamorphic rock. The Narrows narrows to about 40 feet across at river level, while the rim stays hundreds of feet wide. Over two million years of erosion reveal some of the planet’s oldest basement rocks.
