From Inspiration Point you look out over the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, where the Yellowstone River braids through a deep gorge and Lower Falls glint below. The rhyolite walls rise in layered bands, telling a story of long erosion along fault lines. A restored overlook sits back from the old tip, a reminder that geology remains in motion even today.
Summer and fall offer the best access; golden hour at sunrise or sunset lights the canyon walls, while midday light is harsh and crowds peak in July–August.

Beautiful hike and physically challenging. Don’t miss out and hike up into Cascade a mile or two. You will be rewarded. Accessing the trail by hiking from the string lake trail head was worth the effort instead of waiting in line and wasting time for the Jenny lake shuttle.

Inspiration Point is amazing! Taking the boat across Jenny Lake is such a fun start, and the crew is super friendly. The trail up is well kept and not too tough—just enough to feel like a good hike.Once you get to the top, the views of Jenny Lake are absolutely stunning. Totally worth it and one of the highlights of visiting the Tetons!
