Granite crown rises at the Cadillac Summit, gulls wheel over the rocky edge as dawn light paints the horizon. The surface bears deep gouges and a polished band from ancient mile-high glaciers that swept this region. The rock formed in the Devonian period, roughly 365–420 million years ago, and now marks the highest coastal point on the North Atlantic.
