You're traveling.. you find yourself on a Sunday night in Hungry Horse Montana... and you're hungry.. as a horse! But it is around 7 and the few places that serve food are closed or going to close. But you see Tex and Jerry's is open. You don't realize it, but you're in for a treat. The place isn't fancy.. but it is clean and friendly, although it takes a little while for the waitress to get to you because she's working alone ... on would ordinarily be a quite night. But she just got slammed with a bunch of people coming in. She comes over and gives you some menus to look at and explains ... in her friendly way, that she'll be awhexpected. The menu isn't large, but has some choices we like. But she really doesn't take that long. And she's friendly and pleasant even under pressure. She gets our drinks, (again not a wide selection, but a good variety with some local brews, plus some nice wine options) takes our order. Then the food comes out. Quicker than we expected. This is when we realized God was smiling on us. The food was AMAZING. My gyros was huge. And my wife's Reuben was the BEST I can remember EVER having! I should have e had that!! It was delicious! So this place may be newer, but if they can find more good help like our waitress, and Their food stays as delicious as ours, and the portions stay generous, this place has a good future! Oh.. our daughter got the grilled cheese with turkey. It was adult sized! One would have easily fed two of our grandkids (who weren't with us.

We were wandering around Montana post a long hike! hungry, lost, and spiritually broken, when suddenly we stumbled upon Tex & Jerrys. Little did we know, we had just discovered the sandwich promised land. The moment we walked in, Melody greeted us with such radiant kindness that I briefly checked to make sure she wasn’t secretly an angel in disguise. She welcomed us not like customers, but like family……you know, if family actually liked you. For one reckless moment, I almost proposed marriage to her, but didn’t wanna be that guy. Now, the food? Holy sandwich gods. The Reuben, the Gyro, the Italian, each one so good it made me question every life choice that led me to eating literally anywhere else. The salads? Shockingly delicious. And the hot sauce? The hot sauce deserves its own holy scripture. One drop and I was sweating, crying, and maybe seeing into alternate timelines. It burned, it healed, it baptized me. My tears weren’t just from spice, they were tears of gratitude, of love, of a man reborn in sandwich fire.I heard they also host live music, though I didn’t get to see it. And honestly, I’m relieved, because if the bands are even half as good as the sandwiches, my fragile heart wouldn’t have survived the day.Leaving was the hardest part. In fact, I was ready to build a log cabin next door and devote my life to becoming Tex & Jerrys most loyal disciple. Unfortunately, I remembered I have a blind dog waiting at home, so priorities. But I’ll be back.Oh, and did I mention Melody? Because she deserves her own standing ovation. 🥰

Stumbled across this GEM of a spot for a late lunch! Jess was our server and we had a ball speaking to her and getting to know her briefly! She gave us the history on the name to the restaurant- added that the food was FANTASTIC! The other server Hayden was just as bubbly and sweet!! hands down the best experience for our 4 day trip to glacier national park!
