Belton Chalet

Wonderful Stay. Lobby was welcoming with a fire going. Girl at front desk was very kind and helpful. Our room was at the end with a private balcony. It was very clean and cozy with a cool rustic vibe. We were on the roadside but cars and Trains didn’t keep us up at all. I could see if other guests are noisy it could be bothersome but we didn’t have that problem at all. Great location to enter park from the west and direct path to make the drive to enter in the east. Beds were comfy. Bathroom clean with hot water and good pressure. Coffee and pastries in morning were good. No complaints. A great place to stay just outside the park.

Great location! Serenity and other staff members were welcoming and engaging! I guess we didn’t read the small print. No TVs anywhere on site. No refrigerator or microwave in rooms. Rooms are very tiny. Walls are so thin!! I got awakened often by someone snoring in the next room and by other patrons’ conversations. The balconies are not private. You can reach out and touch someone if you wanted to. Rooms are older and need updates. It was clean but baseboards and walls need a deep cleaning. Breakfast was fine and consisted of muffins and yogurt. The restaurant was nice but $35 for a pork chop and potato wedges was a little steep for us. For the price, we expected more, but again, we probably did not read the small print.

We stayed at the Belton Chalet the first week of September. The first thing to know is this is not in any way a 5 star hotel. It isa best-a two star hotel. We have stayed in historic properties all over the world. This property could be so much more. The biggest advantage is the quick access to the West Glacier entrance. There is no other asset. The property needs maintenance. Boards are rotting. Drains are slow to drain. Pipes moan loudly. Floors creak. Internet is awful and needs updating. Sinks are stained. Curtains and blinds are dirty and stained. No breakfast service , just a handful of day old pastries and a thermos of coffee. We did dine in the restaurant for dinner. $33 for a plate of pasta. It was good but no sides were served except a piece of toasted bread. Servers did not know about wines and seemed flustered. They gave us the wrong check for $250 instead of our bill for $100. Nice and helpful folks at the front desk. We disliked the hotel so much we checked out a night early and they charged a $30 “ early checkout fee.” They either need to do a complete update of the hotel portion or close it and focus on the restaurant. Look at their response - exactly what they say to everyone.
