Before you book
Can I take photos or record video?
No. All electronic devices—cameras, phones, tablets, laptops—are strictly prohibited to protect bat emergence behavior. Leave them in your car.
Do I need to make a reservation?
No. It's first-come first-served. But in peak season (July-August), arrive 45-60 minutes early or you'll be standing in darkness with no seating.
What if it rains or a storm approaches?
The program runs in light rain. It's cancelled only if lightning is within 10 miles. Check with the visitor center if severe weather is threatening.
Is this okay for young kids?
Yes, for ages 5+. The ranger talk is engaging and emergence is spectacular. Younger kids may struggle with the attention span required and standing duration. Bring a blanket so they can sit on the ground.
Can I bring my dog?
