Three massive concrete missile barns rise unexpectedly from the flat Everglades landscape—an eerie time capsule of Cold War defense. You walk among the structures that once housed Nike Hercules missiles, part of a system designed to intercept Soviet aircraft over South Florida. The barracks, guard dog kennels, and missile assembly building reveal how 250+ military personnel monitored the skies here from 1966 to 1979. This rare, tangible relic of nuclear-age anxiety is one of Florida's best-preserved Cold War installations.

How To Get There
Drive to the site via roads within Everglades National Park. GPS coordinates: 25.3707, -80.6862. Accessible by private vehicle, motorcycles, and RVs during operating season (early December to late March). Paved parking available for autos and RVs. Follow NPS directional signage from main park roads.

Historic 10-mile gravel trail with Taylor Slough vistas and tree islands. Seasonal flooding; dry season recommended.
