Trail Highlights

Landscape Arch's iconic 306-foot light opening—the longest natural arch in North America. Only 6 feet in diameter at its narrowest point, making it a delicate geological marvel that has collapsed in sections.

Insider Tips

• This section separates from the strenuous Double O Arch extension—you can easily turn back at Landscape Arch without committing to a longer hike.\n• Pair this with The Windows or Park Avenue trails (both nearby) for a full morning.\n• Early morning light (6–8 AM) creates the best arch photography.\n• Water is available spring through fall; fill bottles before starting in winter.

Best Season to Hike

March through May and September through October

Hiking Tips

  • Carry at least 2 liters of water per person in warm months; refill at the trailhead.\n
  • Start early (before 8 AM) during March–October to avoid heat and crowds.\n
  • Wear sunscreen, a hat, and closed-toe hiking shoes—limited shade on this exposed trail.\n
  • The arch is visible from the approach—use it as visual motivation for kids.\n
  • Surface is hard-packed but slippery when wet; avoid after rain.

Family Info

Excellent for families with young children. The 1.8-mile distance and hard-packed surface accommodate strollers most of the way. Kids can see the arch as a visual goal. Steep slopes near the final approach may require carrying children the last 100 yards.
