The Ridgeline Hotel At Yellowstone, Ascend Hotel Collection

One night's stay, but well worth it!First impression is from the riverside location, far enough off the main street to be really quiet. You can stand in the parking lot and look across most of Gardiner to see the Arch entrance to Yellowstone. It's that close.We had a great experience with booking directly. During the week before we arrived, we got a note from the hotel letting us know there would be some renovations underway for the room type we'd selected, so they would need to change it. When we checked in and got to the room, found they'd relocated us to an enormous double suite with a huge balcony (!).Check-in was great, with the desk giving us a fantastic recommendation for dinner (Wonderland Cafe). Now, it wasn't the desk's fault at all, but I really felt sorry for the two guys trying to check in ahead of me. Their mistake: relying on Booking.com, which had apparently reserved/charged for a room on a night when the motel was actually sold out. Nothing could be done locally. This is why we almost ALWAYS book directly, especially for smaller places.Did not use any of the amenities, but it was a cold night with some light flurries, and they had a fire pit going outside the main entrance, and a lot of guests were taking advantage.Was very glad we found the motel, and would definitely stay again.

BEWARE!... There has a nice outdoor hot tub, outdoor fire pits and lovely views from the rooms. The "motor inn" hotel style rooms are nothing special and rather out dated. It is pricy for what you get. But, it is at the entrance to Yellowstone and everything is pricy.BEWARE! Upon departure, there was a "non-negotiable, non-optional" (in the words of the desk clerk) fee charged to my card. This charge was not disclosed to me, not approved by me, and had no description for the charge on the receipt, only X'd out credit card number with last 4 digits. Not only is this type of charge back-handed and not ethical, I am sure it is also not legal. My credit card provider approved my claim and refunded the money charged.I do not approve of this type of tactic from ANY business in this country. And suggest anyone considering staying there, consider they may experience the same shady activity.

This place is right at the Yellowstone entrance so we stayed one night only. There's no elevator which is one of the downside. Besides that we weren't in the room much time. They do provide free laundry usage! They had free s'mores that you could use for the fire pit.Kim was an angel. I told her I was a city girl hoping to see wildlife. She said, "this isn't Disney Land, think more like Jurassic Park." She literally took time to make sure my outting was safe.It's not an updated place but great location.
