We roll into Apgar Village Lodge & Cabins—lakefront charm with 48 units, a slice of Glacier history from the 1950s. Rustic rooms and cabins, a cafe on-site, and a quiet lane that puts you right by Lake McDonald. It’s basic, it’s deliberate, and it costs around $234 in peak season. This is the kind of mission where the location carries the load and the rest is simple hustle.
Grab breakfast at Eddie’s Café before you head out. You’re about 2 minutes from the park entrance, so wheels up by 6:30 AM to beat the crowds.
✅ BOOK IF: You want a rustic, family-friendly Glacier base with lake access and basic comforts. ❌ SKIP IF: You require air conditioning, in-room TV, or high-speed wifi.

Rustic lodge and cabin architecture
Rustic base that suits families, but expect noise from creek and older buildings; no in-room entertainment or A/C
June through September
Rustic and historic, with lakefront location that delivers a sense of Glacier’s past. It’s not modern or luxurious—air conditioning and TVs are absent, wifi can lag, and walls are thin in older buildings. For the price and the setting, it hits a nice balance, especially for families and park explorers who want simple, reliable access to the outdoors.
Light sleepers or travelers who demand air conditioning, in-room entertainment, or high-end amenities.
Book well in advance—peak season is tight. Use the direct link and lock in your cabin with kitchen if you cook. Expect the 3% preservation fee and a $1/night donation; extra guests above 12 incur a $15/night add-on.
Rustic charm with a prime Glacier location. Basic rooms and cabins, some with kitchens, fit families and explorers who want to unplug. Not a luxury stay, but the setting and access to the park carry the experience.

Dreamy spot that our Florida family loved a few years back! It felt like we took a step back in time - to before all the tech and digitalization of our world. How lovely! We booked when many rooms had filled up so we took what we could get: our first night staying in The Village Inn, a lodge with all rooms facing south end of Lake McDonald. Then the next 3 or 4 nights we were able to secure a private cabin - our first choice so we could spread out some more and have a kitchen! Honestly, BOTH lodging options were wonderful - the views at the Inn were breathtaking, and we loved the convenience to the water for when the kids wanted to swim. However, the cabins were so close too (50 yards away) and even closer to the eateries and shops. We recommend the cabins for families or those who like to cook! We hope to go back one day!

Rated the room a little lower because it was not cleaned very well and few amenities, but did love our cabin old style feel. The area has a classic camp like feel with gift shops, a restaurant, ice cream place and boat rental. Located on Lake McDonald we loved staying here. We did white water rafting which was nice but very tame with low water levels this time of year. Took a motorboat out on the lake and saw Bald and Golden Eagles. Our favorite hike was Trail of the Cedars and walking to Avalanche lake, about 5 miles through a beautiful forested landscape. There are bear in the area but we missed them at the lake being about an hour late

This place provides cute little cabins for stay. I was overall happy with my stay here but the only complaint I have is these cabins don’t have ac and when the temperature hits high 90s , like in July when I was there it was 96 , the fan which is provided in the cabin doesn’t do the trick and makes your stay a bit uncomfortable. I understand global warming and when these cabins were built the weather was different but they should think about ac now in there. The front desk was very helpful. I have had absolutely no other issues for the time I spent there. Location is also great but keep in mind you would still need a timed entry to enter the “Going to Sun Road”.
