Best Overall Single Person Tent
Pros:
•Durable Zipper
•Vestibule
•Great In Rain
•2-Pole Design
Cons:
•Weighs 1500g
•Little Room To Sit Upright
Overview
The ALPS Mountaineering Lynx 1 has a free-standing, 2-pole design, versatile tent that is perfect for camping and backpacking.
This tent is built to last with a vestibule for gear storage, a gear loft and mesh storage pocket, quality materials and construction, and a UV-resistant fly.
The coated floor and durable zippers also make it ideal for wet-weather protection.
My Private Notes
The Lynx 1 is an amazing, overall backpacking tent.
Without using any waterproofing spray, the tent holds up very well to rain (although spray is recommended).
There is ample sleeping space for a one-person tent.
And the mesh pouches on the inside are perfect for your phone or flashlight.
This tent can also fit a twin air mattress! However, things get pretty tight when attempting this.
Being the overall best tent means it does great in every category but doesn’t excel in any of them. There is enough room to sit upright in this tent but only in the middle, and once the gear is added, the space can get a little cramped.
The original steaks also bend easily making getting new ones a must down the road.
With that said, this single-person tent is my go-to when camping outdoors. With set-up and tear-down being a breeze, it makes getting back to the fun stuff so much easier.

This backpacking tent is exceptionally roomy, with a single door and vestibule to put your outdoor gear.

My Private Notes
When it comes to backpacking tents, a lot has to be taken into consideration.
Waterproofing, gear storage, interior space, gear weight, and how it will hold up in extreme weather conditions.
The good news is, this tent can do it all.
While I have not gone through crazy weather conditions with this tent, people I know have said the tent held up very well.
The rainfly offers plenty of space for your gear and the inside is nice and spacious.
The only real gripe I have with the tent is the floor could be made out of better material.
It almost feels like it could rip if pulled the wrong way on a rock.
Personally, I use a sleeping pad in all of my tents so it’s not much of an issue, but it’s definitely something to think about.
Big Agnes UL Ultralight Tent
Outdoorsmen looking for the lightest possible shelter need look no further than the Big Agnes UL Ultralight Tent.

DAC poles create a strong structure, while the elevated storage allows you to use every inch of space efficiently.
And with reflective guy lines and webbing, you’ll stay safe and seen during
My Private Notes
This one person tent is light! Like not ‘pretty light’, but the ‘I don’t even know it’s there’s kind of light. This is my go-to long-distance backpacking tent.
One crazy thing I’ve noticed with this tent is even in the cold weather, it stays warm in the cool temperatures and cool in the warm temperatures with close to zero tent condensation.
One downside, however, is that getting into the tent can be cumbersome when it’s raining.
Not that it’s hard to get in, but it’s hard to get in without getting some water on the inside.
Aside from the whole getting in while it’s raining part, I would recommend this tent in a heartbeat. It’s so light and durable that even with a downside, there is too much upside not to recommend it.

•Great In Rain
•Double Doors
Cons:
•Weighs 1678g
•Hard To Put Away

And with double doors and a carry bag and accessories, this tent is easy to transport and store. Plus, Abco Tech offers a 100% risk-free satisfaction guarantee, so you can buy with confidence.
My Private Notes
As with any pop-up, putting it away can be difficult.
It is no different with the Abco Tech Pop-Up Tent.
Trying to fold it into its original figure 8 form for packing away can be exhausting.
On top of that trying to fit the tent in a bag is a process in itself.
To someone who’s only put the tent away once or twice, it can take longer to pack than a normal tent.
All things considered, this is an excellent tent.
Setup is ridiculously easy and the waterproofing is outstanding. The material feels very well constructed and the zipper works surprisingly well.
Overall I’d recommend the Abco Tech Pop-Up Tent to anyone in the market for this type of tent.

•Easy to Transport
Cons:
•Weight 1497g
•Feels Constricting

The GeerTop Bivy One-Person Tent is perfect for the solo camper.
Seams are double-stitched and tape-sealed, making them a durable and weather-resistant option.
The outer tent fly is made of 210 T polyester and features sealed seams and UV protection.
Inside of the tent is made of 210 T breathable polyester with grid yarn to provide breathability and circulation.
It also has two doors, windows, and two vestibules, providing plenty of space for gear storage.
The lightweight design makes it easy to transport, while the built-in net keeps the bugs out.
My Private Notes
Just to get it out in the open, I am not a bivy kind of guy.
With that said, this tent does stand up to the elements very well. The seams have durable construction and the setup is easy.
The top section of the bivy has ample space and I can sleep comfortably with enough space to be able to toss and turn.
The one thing I absolutely hate about this tent is I feel constricted.
The foot section leaves little room for any of my gear, forcing me to set it all next to me.
I can definitely see why people would like these types of tents.
This tent in particular is very well made. Bivies are just not the type of tent for me.

The Lunar Solo keeps camping minimalists happy with its small size, but still provides all the necessary functions you need from a premium tent.
Don’t let its size fool you – sometimes less really does mean more!

The canopy is constructed from 20D material, while the floor utilizes a more durable 40D weave.
A full vestibule provides plenty of space for gear storage, and the zipper vestibule closure ensures that you won’t wake up to a cold, wet morning. With a
My Private Notes
I LOVE THIS TENT!
The material feels very durable while still lightweight.
After using some Kiwi Camp Dry Heavy Duty Water Repellent, there was zero water that got through the Six Moon Designs Lunar Solo.
Plus wind was no challenge for this tent.
When I was in Glacier National Park, winds of 30mph whipped against the tent and it held up spectacularly.
There are a few downsides, however.
This is in the group of trekking pole tents So this tent does not come with tent poles or stakes.
I personally use one of my trekking poles to get the job done. The adjustable trekking poles make quick work of setting up.
As for the stakes I use Orange Screw for the added peace of mind. Although any tent stake will work.
The tent does require 6 stakes so be sure to get enough!

Best Single Person Tent On A Budget
Pros:

•Fast Setup
•Great Customer Service
•Budget Friendly
Cons:
•Too Breathable
•Weighs 2495g
Overview
The Night Cat Backpacking One-Person Tent is an ideal choice for people budgeting in a backpacking tent.
This double wall tent is made of 210D waterproof PED fabric PU 3000 and comes with fiberglass poles, which makes it relatively lightweight and compact.
It can be set up in just a few minutes and comes with a free carrying bag.
The tent features waterproof tape on every seam to ensure protection against rain and wind. Night Cat also offers Prompt Customer Service through their website.
My Private Notes
As far as budget tents go, Night Cat has some great quality for the money.
This single-person tent has great waterproofing.
Water doesn’t normally come through the bottom unless it’s set up in a low spot where water collects.
This tent fits a twin air mattress too! I’m a sucker for a good night’s sleep, so an air mattress is a big deal.
One downside (or upside) is the Night Cat Backpacking Tent is very breathable.
The only real-time it can be used is during the dead of summer.
Once the nights start getting cool, you better have one hell of a sleeping bag to keep you warm.
